PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES

Submit original photographs (may be previously published but NO photos having won an award or monetary prize).
NO AI-generated material accepted. If AI-based submissions are discovered, submission is disqualified and you will not be eligible to submit in the future.
Don’t manipulate photographs (no Photoshop effects/filters). Note we prefer to adjust contrast, since we know the printed output results.
Images must be JPEG files. Please convert your files to this format before submitting.
Provide a WIDE variety of content/subject matter, and do NOT send multiple JPEGs of the same photo.
Do NOT convert color photos to black and white. We do accept photos taken in black and white.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT to title all photographs, to align with the writing themes within a particular journal.
ANY photograph chosen that portrays an identifiable person requires a written release to publish. A form will be provided for YOU to obtain the release from that individual.

Dropbox required.
- Create Dropbox folder and label it “[YOUR NAME] Photography Submission.” Share this folder with moonShine@carolina.rr.com.
- We do not consider submissions sent with links to a website other than Dropbox. (If you are not familiar with Dropbox, we can assist.)
Email MoonshineReviewPress@gmail.com with your Dropbox link and “Photography Submission to moonShine review” in subject line. (Please add this email address to your accepted emails list, so our replies don’t go to SPAM.) Include the following in the body of your email:
- Publishing Name (as you want it to appear in moonShine review)
- Contact Name (if different from name above, include first name)
- USPS Mailing Address
- Phone Number
- Email Address

INSIDE PHOTO REQUIREMENTS:

VERTICAL photos are PREFERRED for inside (5.5 X 8.5 printed page size limits size of horizontal photos).
Provide 300 dpi, at least 4 x 6 in size.
Include at least 50 photos and no more than 100.
Provide a WIDE variety of content.
Inside photos are printed black and white, but do not convert to black and white. Photos already taken in black and white are acceptable.
Convert all files to JPEG before submitting.

COVER PHOTO REQUIRMENTS:

HORIZONTAL photos are REQUIRED for cover (Cover photo wraps front to back and bleeds on all edges).
Provide 300 dpi, at least 9 x 12.
Include at least 5 and no more than 20 photos. NOTE for the 2025 issue, we do NOT require a minimum of photos from each photographer.
Provide color photos only.
Convert all files to JPEG before submitting.
